unironically the reason I wanna write it is because of the song "Mr Blue Sky" bc I think of music videos when I listen to songs
My rewrite is going to leave everyone in shambles and they are all mentally unstable

Sonic was captured by Eggman for like 9 months instead of 6, and he has been tested, tortured, and put to his limits (I imagine stuff like what the Egg Counsel did in Prime is what he'll do)
When Sonic gets released, he is actually so not okay, it's less that he's immediately sad, but he rides that freedom high for like a month. If I made that music video I was talking about earlier, I'd have him be kinda hallucinating about his surroundings, thinking they're better than they're are because he's been so deprived of proper living conditions.

Tails is NOT OKAY... It's so sad because he's the only one actively denying that sonic is dead, so he still makes hopeful comments about Sonic saving them, but everyone is just sad bc Tails is kinda spiraling. He gets the 7 robo tails that Nine has to protect himself, which he'd sometimes accidentally threaten people with bc his tails are tied to emotions, and people talking about Sonic makes him emotional. He's still a support character who invents a lot, but he's just a bit crazy from Sonic being presumed dead

Amy is also trying to deny Sonic is dead for a few months before she realizes that she needs to focus on the present instead of daydreaming about Sonic. She's probably one of the leaders in the resistance because she is charismatic and cares about people while still being strong.

Knuckles was hit hard by Sonic's disappearance, but quickly tried to take on the responsibility that Sonic used to bear, trying to take the brunt of the work in rebelling against Eggman. He's a leader in the resistance. He tried to keep an open mind but its hard to when, yk, you now live in a dystopia.

Rouge and The Chaotix probably have similar roles, both their gimmicks being stealth. They probably try to get one up on Eggman or rescue people from his destruction.

I wanna go down a 2nd dimension Doofenshmirtz route for the way Eggman controls citizens, but also New Yoke aspects of it. I'd need to know more about the average world for Sonic to know how to build off of it in a dystopia.

@ChipBlitz_ I really like the idea of a dystopian Sonic! It could be very effective with character growth. I wanna go down the IDW aftermath because I started getting into Sonic with IDW, and I love Starline and the Metal Virus could be SOO badass, but it'd be my rewrite bc I'd change some things (Screw you 300 character cast)
